The Variations Hexagon Maquette is a 3D printed stainless steel 1/16” scale model of my 12 foot tall aluminum sculpture, installed at FIT in the Fall of 2024. The fabrication technology (SLM) uses powdered stainless steel and lasers to slowly build individual layers, each only .1mm thick, adding up to over 3000 layers. The resulting form creates a dynamic composition of solid and void, producing ever-changing patterns of light and shadows. The exterior surfaces are polished, leaving the interior raw textured metal. The material is weighty and solid.
The maquettes measure 9” tall x 2.25” diameter. Edition of 10.
