The Marfa Maquette is a 3D printed stainless steel model of my larger cylindrical sculptures. The fabrication technology (SLS) uses powdered stainless steel and lasers to slowly build individual layers, each only .1mm thick, adding up to over 1200 layers. The resulting form creates a dynamic composition of solid and void, producing everchanging patterns of light and shadows. The material is raw, weighty, and a bit sparkly. The maquette is alluring to look at, intriguing to look through, and playful in hand.
The maquettes measure 5” tall x 1.75” diameter. Edition of 100.
